A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY
MANAGER TO ENTER INTO A CONTRACT FOR
THE PURCHASE OF A HAZARDOUS DUTY
MOBILE UNIT FOR THE LITTLE ROCK FIRE

WHEREAS, the Little Rock Fire Department bomb disposal unit
has been in operation for 25 years; and
WHEREAS, during this period the bomb squad has dealt with
more than 1,000 explosive related incidents; and
WHEREAS, danger with new sophisticated explosive devices
require new technologies to be used and safety for the bomb
technicians is of the utmost concern; and
WHEREAS, Robots are an innovation that is now being used
worldwide and the REMOTEC robot is now used and certified by
federal .agencies including the FBI, Secret Service, Military
explosive units, the Israeli army and many others.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF
THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS:
SECTION 1. The City Manager is authorized to enter into a
contract for the purchase of a hazardous duty mobile unit for
the Little Rock Fire Department.
SECTION 2. Funds for this purpose are currently available.
SECTION 3. This resolution shall be in full force and
effect from and after its adoption.
