RESOLUTION NO. 9,380
A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY
MANAGER TO ACCEPT BIDS AND AWARD A
CONTRACT FOR THE PURCHASE OF TWO
POLICE PATROL MOTORCYCLES FOR THE
FLEET SERVICES DEPARTMENT.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF
THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS:
SECTION 1. The City Manager is authorized to accept bids
and award a contract to Jones Harley Davidson of Little Rock,
Arkansas, the most qualified bidder meeting specifications, in
an amount not to exceed $22,000 for two police patrol
motorcycles for the Fleet Services Department.
SECTION 2. Funds are available for this purpose in account
number 600 - 360 - 6020 - 6021 -7060.
SECTION 3. This resolution shall be in full force and
effect from and after its adoption.

RECOMMENDATION AND DISCUSSION: It is recommended that this bid be awarded to
Jones Harley Davidson. Kawasaki Sports Center was the low bidder, however,
they were disqualified for the following reasons.
1. Transmission - Kawasaki's final drive is a chain instead of belt driven as
specified. This is a maintenance requirement and it is felt by Fleet Services
that a chain drive is more expensive to maintain.
2. Frame and Saddle - Floating floorboards and spring mounted saddles were
specified for safety and comfort for the driver. The Kawasaki doesn't offer
either.
