A RESOLUTION OF SUPPORT FOR EFFORTS 37 5
TO REDEFINE THE JUVENILE JUSTICE a3
PROVISIONS TO PROVIDE FOR A SAFER
AND BETTER ENVIRONMENT FOR THE
CITIZENS; CONISF.NDING THE CALL OF A
SPECIAL SESSION OF THE GENERAL
ASSEMBLY; AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES.
WHEREAS, Governor Jim Guy Tucker has announced a special
session of the General Assembly to include 24 items to deal with
the issue of crime; and
WHEREAS, this call includes several provisions that will
strengthen the juvenile justice code, assure that incorrigible
youth will not escape appropriate punishment merely because of
their age and will impose stiffer penalties for persons
convicted of having firearms for other than law abiding
purposes.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF
THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS:
SECTION 1: The Board commends Governor Tucker for having
called this Special Session of the Arkansas General Assembly and
expresses its support for the provisions of the call that deal
with juvenile justice, with the incarceration of violent
juvenile offenders, that permit access to juvenile justice
records by law enforcement and prosecutors, that create felony
offenses for the possession of firearms, and for the other
matters contained in the Governor's call.
SECTION 2. The City Clerk is directed to send a copy of
this Resolution to Governor Tucker and to the members of the
Special Session.
