WHEREAS, the City has established Alert Centers within
certain areas of the City with great success and has found them
to be excellent resources and points of contact between the
citizens and the particular neighborhoods; and
WHEREAS, as a result of monies available from the one -half
cent sales tax, it is possible to locate two more neighborhood
alert centers; and
WHEREAS, the City staff wish to begin the process to plan
for these two alert centers from five of the City neighborhoods
not currently served.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS
OF THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS:
SECTION 1. The Board endorses the concept of adding two
more neighborhood alert centers to those presently in operation,
and directs City staff to devise a selection system to be
utilized by the five areas not currently served with an alert
center.
SECTION 2. The Board directs the City Manager to have
selection criteria created, proposals submitted, and a
recommendation for the location of these two additional alert
centers as expeditiously as possible.
