1 A RESOLUTION EXPRESSING THE WILLINGNESS OF
2 THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK TO USE FEDERAL-AID
3 FUNDS FOR THE REMOVAL OF BILLBOARDS ON THE
4 SCENIC CORRIDORS; AUTHORIZING THE CITY
5 MANAGER AND THE CITY ATTORNEY TO DEVELOP A
PROGRAM AND TO INITIATE NEGOTIATIONS AND
6 CONDEMNATION PROCEEDINGS, IF NECESSARY.

8 WHEREAS, federal -aid funds administered by the Arkansas
9 Highway and Transportation Department are available to the City
10 of Little Rock for the removal of billboards on the scenic
corridors of the City; and
11 WHEREAS, the City's matching fund requirement for this
12 project is twenty percent (20 %) or approximately Eighty Thousand
13 Dollars ($80,000); and
14 WHEREAS, the plan and procedure for removal of billboards
15 will be developed in meetings with representatives of the City,
the Highway Department and Metroplan.
16 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF
17 THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS:
18 SECTION 1. The City Manager is hereby authorized to execute
19 the necessary documentation to expedite the removal of
billboards from the scenic corridors.
20 SECTION 2. The City f Little Rock will
y participate in
21 accordance with its designated responsibility in this project.
22 SECTION 3. The City Attorney is authorized to institute
23 condemnation proceedings if necessary to remove billboards from
24 the scenic corridors.
