A RESOLUTION OF INTENT TO ENTER INTO
AN INTERLOCAL AGREEMENT WITH PULASKI
COUNTY TO FUND AN ADDITIONAL PUBLIC
DEFENDER FOR THE LITTLE ROCK
MUNICIPAL COURT; AND FOR OTHER
PURPOSES.

WHEREAS, the Pulaski County Public Defender is responsible
for cases in the Little Rock Municipal Court in which there may be
the possible imposition of a jail sentence, and
WHEREAS, there is currently only one public defender
assigned to handle both divisions of the Little Rock Municipal
Court, and there are plans to create a third division, and
WHEREAS, the Pulaski County Quorum Court has indicated an
interest in creating another public defender position if the City
can assist in financing this position,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF
THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS:
SECTION 1: The Board of Directors expresses its intent to
enter into an interlocal agreement with Pulaski County to fund an
additional public defender whose services will be devoted to the
Little Rock Municipal Court.
SECTION 2: The City Attorney is directed to draft an
interlocal agreement for consideration by Pulaski County and the
City of Little Rock, and to submit this draft to the Board of
Directors for its comments no later than February 15, 1994.
