A RESOLUTION OF INTENT TO ENDORSE A
ONE -HALF CENT CITY SALES TAX TO RAISE
FUNDS THAT WILL ASSIST IN PUBLIC SAFETY
PROGRAMS AND OTHER MUNICIPAL PURPOSES;
AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES.

WHEREAS, the City has levied a one -half cent City sales tax
and called an election for December 14, 1993, to seek approval
of this tax by the voters; and
WfiMEAS, it is important for the voters to know the intent
of the Board of Directors concerning the expenditure of funds to
be realized from this tax.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF
THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS:
SECTION 1. The Board of Directors endorses the one -half
cent sales tax to be voted upon on December 14, 1993.
SECTION 2. The Board of Directors states its intent to use
these funds for the following municipal purposes:
(a) To hire 45 additional police officers
each year for the next three years to
assist in combating local concerns about
crime;
(b) To expend funds for crime prevention
programs necessary to keep City youth
and others from becoming involved in
violent crimes either as perpetrators or
victims;
(c) To expand fire protection services
within the City, to create a hazardous
materials team within the fire
department, to expand the arson
investigation unit, and to deal with
City housing problems through increased
code enforcement, expand the rental
inspection program and to finance an
additional municipal court;
(d) To meet other municipal purposes.
