A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY
MANAGER TO ACCEPT BIDS AND AWARD
CONTRACTS FOR SOLID WASTE DISPOSAL
SERVICES FOR DOMESTIC WASTE AND YARD
WASTE DISPOSAL.
WHEREAS, the City needs a disposal site for domestic and
yard wastes for one or more weeks between the time the present
landfill, on Ironton Cutoff Road, is closed on October 1, 1993,
and the opening of the new Solid Waste Facilities, which is
presently under construction; and
WHEREAS, the Brushy Island Landfill, a subsidiary of Waste
Management, Inc. is the low bidder to dispose of the City's
domestic waste for $4.40 per cubic yard uncompacted with an
estimated weekly cost to the City of $20,328; and
WHEREAS, American Composting, Inc. is the low bidder to
dispose of the City's yard waste for $3.25 per cubic yard with an
estimated weekly cost to the City of $3,900.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF
THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS:
SECTION 1. The City Manager is authorized to accept bids
and award a contract to Brushy Island Landfill to dispose of the
City's domestic waste and to American Composting, Inc. to dispose
of the City's yard waste.
