HomeMy WebLinkAbout8942292 1 2 RESOLUTION NO. 8,942 3 4 A RESOLUTION EXPRESSING THE INTENT 5 OF THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS TO WORK 6 WITH THE PULASKI COUNTY REGIONAL 7 SOLID WASTE DISTRICT TO DEVELOP .A 8 PLAN FOR THE DEVELOPMENT AND 9 OPERATION OF A DISTRICT WIDE 10 MATERIAL RECOVERY FACILITY AND 11 DIRECTING THE CITY MANAGER TO PURSUE 12 COOPERATION WITH THE PULASKI COUNTY 13 REGIONAL WASTE MANAGEMENT DISTRICT 14 TO ASSURE THAT THE FACILITY WITS, BE 15 AVAILABLE TO MUNICIPALITIES AND 16 GOVERNMENTS IN THE DISTRICT; AND 17 FOR OTHER PURPOSES. 18 19 WHEREAS, the Board of Directors approved Little Rock, 20 Arkansas, Resolution No. 8862 on February 2, 1993, expressing an 21 intent to construct a new landfill and to cooperate with the 22 Pulaski County Regional Solid Waste Management District 23 (PCRSWD); and 24 WHEREAS, the Board has since taken steps to issue bonds to 25 pay the costs of constructing this landfill; and 26 WHEREAS, it is the intent of the Board of Directors to 27 comply with the Federal and State regulations regarding 28 recyclable materials; and 29 WHEREAS, it is the intent of the Board of Directors to 30 operate a state of the art landfill. 31 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF 32 THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS: SECTION 1. The Board of Directors states its intent that the landfill operate in a price competitive manner that will allow a larger volume of material to come into the landfill. SECTION 3. The Board of Directors further directs the City Manager, with the greater volume of material coming into the landfill, to work with the Pulaski County Regional Solid Waste District to develop plans for the development and.operation of a material recovery facility.
