A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER
TO ACCEPT BIDS AND AWARD CONTRACTS FOR
THE PURCHASE OF A HORSE BARN FOR THE
POLICE DEPARTMENT; A POTHOLE PATCHER
TRUCK FOR THE DEPARTMENT OF GENERAL
SERVICES /FLEET SERVICES DIVISION; AND A
SECURITY SYSTEM FOR THE MUNICIPAL COURTS

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF
THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS:
SECTION 1. The City Manager is hereby authorized to accept
bids and award contracts for the purchase of the following:
A. to Morton Buildings, Inc. in an amount not to exceed
$61,447, a contract for the purchase of a horse barn
for the Police Department.
B. to Russell Chevrolet, in an amount not to exceed
$75,973.28, a contract to purchase a pothole patcher
truck for the Department of General Services/ Fleet
Services Division.
C. to Sonitrol Security, in an amount not to exceed
$23,895, for the purchase of a security system for
the Municipal Courts Building.

be given to the low bidder meeting specifications. Russell
Chevrolet. H.D. Industries was disqualified for failin¢ to hid
the solenoid system specified which would result in a maintenance
problem. failure to bid the 8' flashing arrow board !they bid a
6' arrow board) and for failure to include in their bid warranty
sources for both the bodv and chassis. Ron Blackwell was
disqualified for failure to include in their bid the extended
warranty on the power train as specified.

RECOMMENDATION AND DISCUSSION: It is recommended that the bid
submitted by Sonitrol Security be accepted. Sonitrol was the
only known source for this type system, however, bids were
solicited to verify this. The reason the Sonitrol system was
specified was so the Courts security system would be compatible
with the Police Departments. This will allow authorized police
personnel to access secured court areas with the same pass key
codes as they have in the Police Building.
