HomeMy WebLinkAbout8678M M 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 22 23 24 25 26 27 28 29 30 31 32 33 34 35 36 174 RESOLUTION NO. 8,67.8 A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ENTER INTO ALL NECESSARY AGREEMENTS TO CONSTRUCT BUILDINGS AT THE LITTLE ROCK PORT AUTHORITY FOR LEASE TO A MANUFACTURING FIRM. WHEREAS, the Board of Directors of the City of Little Rock recognizes that economic development is one of the keys to maintaining a vibrant, progressive community, and WHEREAS, the City has attracted a major manufacturing company, R & G Sloane, to locate its corporate offices at the Port in Little Rock, Arkansas, and WHEREAS, the City is using Act 9 bonds to finance the construction of a facility on the property of the Little Rock Port Authority that can be used by manufacturing industries like R & G Sloane, and WHEREAS, initial design and development work on these facilities needs to occur before such construction can be undertaken pursuant to an Act 9 bond issue, and WHEREAS, the Cromwell firm and May Construction Company have been selected for the first phase of this work, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS: SECTION 1. The City Manager, upon approval of the language by the City Attorney, is authorized to enter into all necessary contractual agreements including those with May Construction Company and the Cromwell firm for architectural, engineering, and construction work necessary to complete buildings at the Little Rock Port Authority that will be used by a manufacturing firm leasing such premises from the City.
