A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO
ACCEPT BIDS AND AWARD CONTRACTS FOR THE PURCHASE
OF ASPHALTIC MATERIALS FOR PUBLIC WORKS -OPERATIONS;
AND AN AIR COOLED WATER CHILLER FOR THE POLICE
DEPARTMENT; AND GRASS SOD FOR THE PARKS & RECREATION
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF
THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS:
SECTION 1: The City Manager is hereby authorized to accept
bids and award contracts for the following:
1. to the various companies as shown on the attached
tabulation, in an amount not to exceed $400,000 a
contract to purchase asphaltic materials for Public
Works - Operations.
2. to Marks Air Conditioning in an amount not to exceed
$22,290, a contract to purchase an air cooled water
chiller for the Police Department.
3. to F. C. Grass Farms in an amount not to exceed $32,850
a contract to purchase 5000 yards Bermuda grass sod and
20000 yards Zoysia grass sod for the Parks &
Recreation Department.

RECOMMENDATION AND DISCUSSION: It is recommended that the bid be
awarded as shown on the tabulation. Lion Oil is the only local
supplier for item 1, as is Elf for items 2 and 3. However, bids
were taken to confirm this. Invitations to bid were issued to Ben
Hogan Company and E.C. Rowlett Company for items 4, 5, and 6,
however, there was no response from either company.
