HomeMy WebLinkAbout17109 1 RESOLUTION NO. 17,109 2 3 A RESOLUTION TO RECOGNIZE AN EMERGENCY SITUATION AND 4 TO PERMIT WEAVER BAILEY CONTRACTORS TO IMMEDIATELY 5 BEGIN WORK TO DEMOLISH A DAMAGED PEDESTRIAN BRIDGE 6 OVER MARKHAM STREET;AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES. 7 8 WHEREAS, on July 13, 2026, a motor vehicle owned by Arkansas Mini Dumpsters, LLC, collided 9 with a pedestrian bridge across Markham Street which rendered the bridge unsafe and required its demoli- 10 tion; and, 11 WHEREAS,Markham Street is a major arterial and it is imperative that the bridge be safely removed 12 and traffic allowed to proceed through the area where the bridge was located as quickly as possible; and, 13 WHEREAS, an abbreviated process was used to select Weaver Bailey Contractors to perform this 14 work,but it may not be possible to formally pass an ordinance to justify such action; 15 NOW,THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE CITY 16 OF LITTLE ROCK,ARKANSAS: 17 Section 1. The City Manager is authorized to enter into a contractual agreement with Weaver Bailey 18 Contractors to demolish the damaged pedestrian bridge on Markham Street, and to prepare the street to be 19 used for vehicular traffic as quickly as possible. 20 Section 2. The anticipated cost is not to exceed One hundred and Two Thousand One Hundred and 21 Eighty-Five and 00/100 Dollars($102,185.00)and will utilize funds in Account No. 326409 TS40A07. 22 Section 3. A more formal ordinance to ratify this emergency action will be passed as quickly as pos- 23 sible by this Board of Directors. 24 Section 4. Severability.
