And you were right, the rainscreen at the uadb house is horizontal. there is only one spot at their entry where the space is surrounded with vertical, thin rainscreen detail. ours will be more like their siding oriented vertically. See below Satellite Dishes: none Roof. Eaves @ 8", overhang @ <1/2" almost flush with rainscreen detail *Walls - Rainscreen wood wall will be set approx 4" off structure and spaced approx 1 /2" in between each board, creating a screening effect from the structure of the house. This technology allows wind to move in between and up and down between the screen and the main structure to act as a multi -functioning wall system. Some of the advantages include creating a wind break, a rain screen, and a thermal screen for shading the main structure from UV and solar gain. It creates a similar aesthetic to board and batten with the vertical breaks, and becomes a low maintenance, low risk siding. There are moments where translucent screen is the interior finish, allowing daylight to pass through the rainscreen it is diffused into the living area through the polycarbonate screen, allowing a reduction in energy usage and creating a daylight system that is all encompassing. (photo 10 shows the spacing off the main structure, and photo 11 shows the rainscreen with polycarbonate wall behind it. both of these images are taken from the residence at 16th and Commerce, where the rainscreen is horizontal) *Windows - polycarbonate panels allow transmission of daylight while reflecting UV and solar gain. One of the options for polycarbonate is a system that reflects summer sun and allows winter sun to enter, functioning as a self adjusting daylight translucent wall that works in all weather conditions and seasons. Non of these polycarbonate window walls will be visible from the public right of way. These panels will be used for skylights over the porch, and some window walls in the main house, but will be covered by the rainscreen detail. *Doors - The front door will be a custom made pivoting panel made out of wood and polycarbonate to match the house. The function of this door is to open into the courtyard, overplaying the concept of the "Courtyard House" typology. The front door will be recognized as the main entry from the formal walk and steps to the door handle. There will also be a recessed light inside the big bright colored wood frame around this panel, and will signify the only way into the house from the front approach. The rear entry door will be made primarily of the rainscreen white cedar and will have a handle and brightly painted frame, as well as recessed light @ frame. Both of these exterior doors will be custom made. *Fencing - we also would like to add the addendum for the fencing to be built to the extent of the 2/24/2011 Page 2 of 2 site, pushing the fence 5' to the south, and 8' to the north. Thanks David Anderson, LEED AP Chief Sustainability Designer www. g usde s i gncoop,c om 1007 McMath Ave Little Rock, AR 72202 "I have realized that the past and future are real illusions, that they exist in the present, which is what there is and all there is." - Alan Watts Next time you are building new, use this calculator to see what amount of embodied energy you paid for... httT):/Ibuildcarbonneutral.org1 2/24/2011 rage i or s Minyard, Brian From: misterdavidanderson@gmail.com on behalf of David Anderson [gusdesigncoop@gmail. com] Sent: Monday, February 28, 2011 3:43 PM To: Minyard, Brian Subject: Re: site plan correction yes it should fit. i just spoke with Bob at LR zoning, and with a 4'6" setback, I am allowed to overhang 18" on both sides. my estimation of 16" overhang on both sides, with my foundation wall setback 5'2" @ north side and 5'10" on south side, I should fall inside the requirements, the foundation wall is only 34' wide, and my house width is estimated around 357' and thats what I've drawn it at, for now lets say that extra 1" drawn is for building abnormalities from construction, and it could be more like 35'6", meaning 1'6" total overhang, split between both sides at 9" each. so basically on the south side my foundation wall is at T 10" setback, with 9" building overhang and 8" eave, the final spacing is 4'5" with the total overhangs. on the north side, foundation wall is at 52", building overhang 9" and eave 8", my final spacing is 39", with an allowable 3' space allowed with all the overhangs in this scenario. best case, my foundation wall width is shortened and my building overhangs in the same location. i am cantilevering the edges of the buildings regardless of where the foundation walls are, and that is simply a structural detail that i am working out with an engineer. as far as my overall widths and placement, there should not be a problem with site setbacks on the north and south sides. if need be, i can take 1' width out of the entryway, and out of the living space and have a shorter house, but I think it should all line up just fine. the important number here is the foundation setback and the allowable 18" overhangs on both sides. I can even re -center the house so the foundation is 5'6" setback on both sides, I just seem to have drawn it leaning closer to one side. Thanks. if i need to recenter for anyone, let me know. So I went ahead and made the necessary changes. I also added a few things to make clear images on the site plan. notice the 34' foundation wall width. the rainscreen and structure for it will overhang the foundation wall less than 8" on each side, and the eaves will still be @ 8". so our structure will be more than 10% lot width away from the site line, and the overhangs on either side less than 16". I will not be completing the application for the CUP in time for filing today. Instead I will be continuing this process, next filing date, April 11. If its possible can you send me a digital copy of the Owner's Authorization? That would be great, I'll need it for the CUP.
