MEMORANDUM
TO: Jamie Blakely
FROM: V. Anne Guthrie, Historic Preservation Administrator
DATE: 9 August 1999
SUBJECT: Rehabilitation of Historic Structures in the MacArthur Park Historic District
As a follow-up of your approval by the Little Rock Historic District Commission (LRHDC) in
March 4, and your request to rehabilitate your home, I would like to state that architectural
details are a significant element of your structure. As such, a window on the front elevation is
considered an important architectural detail; it should reflect as much possible its original size,
construction, location and design. If the window's original design can be duplicated, efforts
must be made to emulate its original design and shape so as to not interfere with the structure's
architectural integrity.
Reiterating our previous conversation, it is within the LRHDC's authority to approve
rehabilitation projects that are located in the MacArthur Park Historic District. As with all rehab
projects, the level of work is contingent upon the structure's previous appearance. If there are
questions, by all means call me at 244-5420.
