These properties are within a few blocks of the

QQA's office and historic property, The Villa Marre, on

Scott Street. We have watched these properties

deteriorate to their current condition over the years,

and we wanted to share our hope with you that the City
of Little Rock will take steps to prevent such loss

from happening routinely.

The QQA supports minimum maintenance standards and
land bank programs so that structures in older
neighborhoods can be saved from neglect. The
structures that the City of Little Rock now wants to
demolish could quite probably have been saved had such
programs been in place.
We do not object to the demolition of these
structures given their current state, but we hope that
they provide a lesson for city leaders. We encourage
the Little Rock Historic District Commission to
advocate for programs to avoid the need for demolition
of structures in our older neighborhoods.
