HomeMy WebLinkAbout17062 1 RESOLUTION NO. 17,062 2 3 A RESOLUTION TO AUTHORIZE THE CITY MANAGER TO ENTER 4 INTO A CONTRACT WITH AJS HOMES IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO 5 EXCEED FIVE HUNDRED EIGHTY-SIX THOUSAND EIGHT HUNDRED 6 DOLLARS ($586,800.00), INCLUDING A TWENTY PERCENT (20%) 7 CONTINGENCY, FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF TWO (2) SINGLE- 8 FAMILY NEW CONSTRUCTION HOMES UTILIZING HOME 9 INVESTMENT PARTNERSHIPS PROGRAM FUNDS; AND FOR OTHER 10 PURPOSES. 11 12 WHEREAS, the City of Little Rock receives an annual allocation of HOME Investment 13 Partnerships Program ("HOME") funds from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development 14 ("HUD")to acquire,develop,and/or rehabilitate housing for low-to-moderate income persons; and, 15 WHEREAS, the City of Little Rock is committed to increasing the availability of affordable 16 housing opportunities for low-to-moderate income residents within the city;and, 17 WHEREAS,the Housing and Neighborhood Programs Department is developing two(2)single- 18 family new construction homes located at 8325 W. 29th Street and 8327 W. 29th Street, Little Rock, 19 Arkansas 72204,utilizing HOME funds;and, 20 WHEREAS,the properties will be sold as affordable housing to eligible low-to-moderate income 21 homebuyers in accordance with HOME program requirements;and, 22 WHEREAS, each new construction unit will consist of approximately 1,303 +/- square feet and 23 include three(3) bedrooms,two and one-half(2.5)bathrooms,a patio, dining area, kitchen, laundry area, 24 and a two-car garage;and, 25 WHEREAS,the properties are legally described as follows: 26 1. West 29th Street/Lot 8R,Block 82,John Barrow Addition 6L to the City of Little Rock, 27 Pulaski County,Arkansas,72204;and 28 2. West 29th Street/Lot 7R,Block 82,John Barrow Addition 6L to the City of Little Rock, 29 Pulaski County,Arkansas,72204;and, 30 WHEREAS,AJS Homes submitted bids for construction of the properties in the amounts of Two 31 Hundred Forty-Two Thousand Dollars ($242,000.00) for 8325 W. 29th Street and Two Hundred Forty- 32 Seven Thousand Dollars($247,000.00)for 8327 W.29th Street,for a total base bid amount of Four Hundred 33 Eighty-Nine Thousand Dollars($489,000.00);and, [Page 1 of 21 1 WHEREAS,the total project authorization amount,including a twenty percent(20%)contingency, 2 shall not exceed Five Hundred Eighty-Six Thousand Eight Hundred Dollars ($586,800.00); and, 3 WHEREAS,funding for this project is available through HOME Investment Partnerships Program 4 funds within Accounting Unit 240009. 5 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE 6 CITY OF LITTLE ROCK,ARKANSAS: 7 Section 1. The City Manager is hereby authorized to enter into a contract with AJS Homes in an 8 amount not to exceed Five Hundred Eighty-Six Thousand Eight Hundred Dollars($586,800.00), including 9 a twenty percent(20%)contingency,for the construction and development of two(2)single-family homes 10 located at 8325 W. 29th Street and 8327 W.29th Street, Little Rock,Arkansas 72204. 11 Section 2. The contract amount includes individual bid amounts of Two Hundred Forty-Two 12 Thousand Dollars ($242,000.00) for the property located at 8325 W. 29th Street and Two Hundred Forty- 13 Seven Thousand Dollars($247,000.00)for the property located at 8327 W. 29th Street. 14 Section 3. Funding for this project shall be paid from HOME Investment Partnerships Program 15 funds within Accounting Unit 240009 and any other funds lawfully appropriated for such purposes. 16 Section 4. The City Manager and the Housing and Neighborhood Programs Department are 17 authorized to take any and all actions necessary to carry out the intent of this Resolution. 18 Section 5.Severability.In the event any section,subsection,subdivision,paragraph,subparagraph, 19 item, sentence, clause, phrase, or word of this Resolution is declared or adjudged to be invalid or 20 unconstitutional, such declaration or adjudication shall not affect the remaining portions of the Resolution 21 which shall remain in full force and effect as if the portion so declared or adjudged invalid or 22 unconstitutional had not originally been a part of the Resolution. 23 Section 6.
