To Ann Gutherie, as per your request:
This letter is being sent to show the location of the security fences and gates around
the two properties of 1410 Rock and 1406 Rock. The enclosed survey copy has the
fences highlighted. The fence is colored yellow and the gates in pink.
During the restoration of the 1410 property the L.R. police dept. has documented the
occurrences of several burglaries and one assault. This necessitated the urgency of
reconstruction of the pre-existing fence as well as extension of it. When the code
enforcement officer, Fletcher Smith, inspected the 1410 structure for occupancy he also
inspected the security fence.
These fences are six feet tall, topped with a boxed in trellis. The style of the fence is
not unique but in phase with similar fences in the immediate and nearby neighborhoods,
all within this historic district.
The fence in the front of the 1410 Rock address extending through the removed house
of 1406 Rock is set back to comply with city zoning rules. The gate in front near the
1410 address will allow the unsightly garbage containers to be out of view when not on
the curb for trash pick-up. The gate near the north side of the 1406 property crosses a
driveway and will be used as such. The lines of the fence will be continuous.
Finally, there is the matter of the handicap ramp on the front side of the house. My
father-in-law, who is 88yrs, suffered a stroke several years ago. His debilitation coupled
with the onset of dementia has necessitated the construction of a temporary ramp. When
the need of this structure is no longer there the ramp will be removed.
