Dear Mr. Lamb:
This letter is provided for documentation that on
December 4, 1986 the Little Rock Historic District
Commission voted to approve the construction of a six unit
apartment structure and proposed garage at 1023 Rock Street.
This approval is subject to the drawings submitted by
Caradine and Associates, Architects which are dated
November 28, 1986 along with the following conditions:
1. The fences on the west which connect the
residences need to be set back at least eight (8)
feet from the front of the structures.
2. Facia boards on the new apartment structure need
to be one by eight inches.
This application was approved because the Commission felt
that the additions were compatible with other structures
within the MacArthur Park Historic District. They noted
other examples of like architectural style-, and -were —
satisfied that the scale, height and massing of the proposal
was in keeping with the proportion and rhythm of adjacent
structures.
Thank you and Mr. Caradine for your commitment to a more
attractive and vibrant Downtown Little Rock. I think a
major factor in the continued revitalization of the Central
Business District is the creation of a permanent downtown
population that will generate activity to support quality
development. Your infill project is an excellent example of
that type of compatible growth.
Enclosed is an additional copy of your approved Certificate
of Appropriateness. It will be necessary for you to present
this to the permit clerk prior to obtaining a building
permit. In that regard, please let me know if Mike Dooley
or I can be of any assistance to you.
