Requesting COA Certiicate Of Appropriateness 01/27/2009^— DEPARTMENT OF PLANNING AND DEVELOPMENT f1 LITTLE ROCK 723 West Markham Street '5 HISTORIC Little Rock, Arkansas 72201-1334 COSTRSSI T Phone: (501) 371-4790 Fax: (501) 399-3435 Certified mail: 7001 2510 0007 6637 1752 Return receipt requested January 27, 2009 Jo A & Gregory S Butler 1016 Rock ST Little Rock, AR 72202 Re: 1016 / 1018 South Rock Street Dear Jo and Gregory Butler, The tax assessor of Pulaski County shows you as the owner of lot 8, block 45 of the Original City of Little Rock known as 1016 Rock Street. This property is within the MacArthur Park Local Ordinance Historic District and is subject to all rules and regulations of that district. Please accept this letter as formal notice that construction activity at 1016 Rock Street was also carried out in violation of state law requiring that a Certificate of Appropriateness ("COX) be obtained prior to making alterations to a structure located in a local ordinance historic district. Our records indicate that a new screen door and stone sidewalk were installed in violation of this COA requirement. To bring your property into compliance with state law, you must either remove the screen door and stone sidewalk or obtain a COA from the Little Rock Historic District Commission by filing an application and fulfilling all requirements thereof. One is attached for your convenience. Failure to obtain a COA and a building permit (if applicable) for the screen door and stone sidewalk will result in referral of this matter to the Zoning Enforcement Division of the City of Little Rock Planning and Development Department for enforcement proceedings in the City of Little Rock Municipal Court. Please call me on my direct line at 371-4789 to get this matter resolved. If I can assist you on getting this property on the next agenda, please let me know. Our filing deadline for the next agenda is February 6, 2009. The April 16, 2008 that I mailed to you included a set of guidelines. Please refer to those. Sincerely, Brian Minyard Historic District Staff
