SUBJECT: Permit for 1018 Rock Street
This memo serves as administrative approval from the Little Rock Historic District
Commission (LRHDC) to obtain a building permit for 1018 Rock. I understand that the permit is
for the rehabilitation of the structure's interior. Since the structure is located within the
MacArthur Park Historic District, exterior work comes under the LRHDC's jurisdiction. Routine
maintenance is allowed within the local ordinance historic district with administrative approval.
The repairs should be performed in conformance to the structure:
♦ the proposed work will not alter the existing footprint, outline, profile,
composition or change the configuration
♦ there will be no change to the roof slope and no introduction of new
architectural detailing or materials
♦ the work will duplicate the existing in terms of shape, configuration, details,
profile and materials
As such, and meeting all city, building and health regulations, the application for a building
permit should be approved. If exterior changes or improvements are made that require a
Certificate of Appropriateness (COA), staff will be notified and appropriate actions taken for a
public hearing. Refer to the application instructions or the Design Review Guidelines:
MacArthur Park Historic District for necessity of obtaining a COA.
