STAFF REPORT

COA REQUEST: Restoration of front facade of commercial building.
PROJECT BACKGROUND; DESCRIPTION AND ANALYSIS: The subj ect property is located
west of I-30, on the west side of Rock Street, between loth street and 11' street. The subject
project's legal description is the east 68ft of Lot 7, Block 45, Original City of Little Rock, Pulaski
County, Arkansas.
The purpose and intent of this project is io uncover the original facade by removing the existing
plywood and beaded paneling under the plate glass windows and removing the existing aluminum
doors and frames.
The restoration will reveal and restore the original beveled panels under the plate glass windows;
restore the door openings to the original 9 x 6 openings and install solid wood and plate glass doors
in openings.
There is one criterion in the district's design guidelines for consideration. The topic and page number
is listed below:
1. Doors -to replace missing original doors should be like or very similar to the original
style, material, glazing (glass area) and lights (pane configuration) -page 28.
NEIGHBORHOOD IMPACT AND REACTION: At the time. of distribution, there were no
obj ections to this project request either in writing or by phone.
STAFF RECOMMENDATION: At this time, it appears the description of work.meets with the
guidelines set forth by the District. Staff recommends approval of this project, contingent upon all
other approval of city permits, ordinances other conditions set by the Historic District Commission.
