Dear Mayor, Mr. Carpenter and Ms. Gutherie:
Re: Mrs. Deislinger's house on Rock Street
I just had to write you to express my concerns over the Rock Street property since an
article appeared in the Dallas Morning News. As a property owner of another late 1800's
Rock Street old house, I have a valid interest in the area.
Instead of going after Mrs. Deislinger who is at least trying to preserve an old house, why
don't you prosecute the owner of the falling down back house at 11t" and Rock? There are
lots of houses in much worse shape than Mrs. Deislinger's that you could spend your time
on.
Perhaps you would rather her house have the some outcome as the house that was on the
vacant lot next to Mrs. Deislinger's. If you let the house sit there long enough, it becomes
not repairable and has to be torn down. More empty vacant lots would make your jobs
easier, I guess.
I am saddened and incensed every time I come "home" and see the condition of houses and
vacant lots in the McArthur Park Historic District and the east side of Main Street.
