HomeMy WebLinkAboutHDC1998-020 Letter From Anne Guthrie To Betty Deislinger12 June 2000 Betty Deislinger 1000 Rock Street Little Rock, AR 72202 Dear Ms. Deislinger: On behalf of the Little Rock Historic District Commission (LRHDC), we are writing this letter as a reminder that the six months in which to comply with the historic district guidelines is near an end. Two letters, on 26 January and 13 April, were written to you stating the need to remove the vinyl window and security bars and to screen the HVAC unit; these actions are necessary in order to comply with the historic district design guidelines. Both letters stated that these items must comply with the guidelines. The April letter gave the date of 1 July as the deadline in which to comply with the design guidelines. Copies of the two letters are enclosed for your reference. The three items that must be brought into compliance are: ♦ replace the front porch vinyl window with materials as listed on your original COA (wood sash); the window must match the dimensions, shape and size of the existing original windows ♦ screen or fence the a/c unit located on the north -- the screening type may be approved administratively prior to installation ♦ remove the security bars located on the primary facades; security bars should not be located on windows visible from the street Your COA application did not include the installation of the vinyl window, the mechanical units and the security bars remaining on the windows; therefore, your compliance with these items within the designated time period is mandatory. If the items are not changed within the specified time, the city ordinance dictates that actions may be taken, such as a daily fine levied until compliance is met. If you need an extension, you must notify us of the need. By owning property in the MacArthur Park Historic District, there is a level of responsibility that a property owner assumes to ensure that the district's architectural integrity is maintained. The city ordinance and the historic district guidelines uphold the district's architectural features and help to retain their significance.
