Rock Street -' Dear Melissa: Please accept this letter as a continuation of our phone visit earlier this week regarding 1008 S. Rock Street. We are making a formal complaint against the property_ It's in extremely dilapidated condition: overgrown, unsecured, roof leaking badly and in several areas caving in_ The owner, Mrs. Claude Herbert, resides next door at 1000 S. Rock. She is very old and appears to be beyond being able to effect securing and cleaning up the property_ She and her husband, before his death several years ago, made an attempt to obtain a demolition permit_ The permit was denied, I believe blocked by the MacArthur Park District Commission. Mrs. Herbert's property lies directly beside the Baer House at 1010 S. Rock_ This house belongs to U. S_ Army Col. (Ret.) Pat C_ Hoy and his wife Ann. Baer house is an extensive restoration of an 1911 Charles Thompson structure. It's a substantial investment for Pat and Ann and is threatened by 1008 Rock Street. Attached are several letters that should give additional background information. 1206 S. Main P.O.
