HomeMy WebLinkAbout17055 1 RESOLUTION NO. 17,055 2 3 A RESOLUTION TO AUTHORIZE THE CITY MANAGER TO ENTER 4 INTO A CONTRACT WITH THE UNITED STATES DEPARTMENT OF 5 JUSTICE OFFICE ON VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN, TO ACCEPT 6 FOUR HUNDRED NINETY-EIGHT THOUSAND NINE HUNDRED AND 7 SEVENTY-FIVE DOLLARS ($498,975.00) IN ABBY HONOLD PROGRAM 8 GRANT AWARD FUNDING FOR OFFICE OF VICTIMS OF CRIME AND 9 THE OFFICE ON TRAFFICKING IN PERSONS GUIDED, EVIDENCE 10 BASED VICTIM-INFORMED TRAINING AND AWARENESS FOR LAW 11 ENFORCEMENT (VITAL) PROJECT INSTRUCTION THROUGH 12 PARTNERSHIPS WITH UNIVERSITY OF ARKANSAS FOR MEDICAL 13 SCIENCES' TELEHEALTH SEXUAL ASSAULT NURSE EXAMINER 14 (TELESANE) PROGRAM AND ARKANSAS COALITION AGAINST 15 SEXUAL ASSAULT (ACASA), FOR A PERIOD OF THREE YEARS; AND 16 FOR OTHER PURPOSES. 17 18 WHEREAS, the City acknowledges that the U.S. Department of Justice Office on Violence Against 19 Women,is offering Abby Honold Program grant funds which support efforts to improve law enforcement's 20 response to allegations of domestic violence,dating violence, sexual assault, and stalking from the time of 21 a victim's initial report throughout the entire investigation, and to promote the efforts of law enforcement 22 in improving the response to these crimes;and, 23 WHEREAS, the City has applied for grant funds from the U.S. Department of Justice Abby Honold 24 Program; and, 25 WHEREAS,the City's Police Department was awarded Four Hundred Ninety-Eight Thousand Nine 26 Hundred Seventy-five Dollars($498,975.00)in grant award funding for Office of Victims of Crime and the 27 Office on Trafficking in Persons guided,evidence based Victim-Informed Training and Awareness for Law 28 Enforcement(VITAL)Project instruction through partnerships with UAMS AR-Telehealth Sexual Assault 29 Nurse Examiner (TeleSANE) Program and Arkansas Coalition Against Sexual Assault (ACASA), for a 30 period of three years through April 2029. 31 NOW,THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE CITY 32 OF LITTLE ROCK,ARKANSAS; [Page 1 of 2] 1 Section 1.The City Manager is authorized to enter into a contract with the U.S.Department of Justice's 2 Office on Violence Against Women,to accept$498,975.00 in grant award funding for the Office of Victims 3 of Crime and the Office on Trafficking in Persons guided, evidence-based Victim-Informed Training and 4 Awareness for Law Enforcement(VITAL)Project instruction. 5 Section 2.Grant award funds for this training are allocated in Activity Account No. G52DF26OWV. 6 Section 3. Severability. In the event any title, section, paragraph, item, sentence, clause, phrase, or 7 word of this resolution is declared or adjudged to be invalid or unconstitutional, such declaration or 8 adjudication shall not affect the remaining portions of the resolution, which shall remain in full force and 9 effect as if the portion so declared or adjudged invalid or unconstitutional were not originally a part of the 10 resolution. 11 Section 4.Repealer.All laws, ordinances, resolutions, or parts of the same,that are inconsistent with 12 the provisions of this resolution,are hereby repealed to the extent of such inconsistency. 13 ADOPTED: May 19,2026 14 ATTEST: APPROVED: 15 1110 16 Al t 17 Allison Segars,City '1�,' r.
