Dear Commissioners:
The Quapaw Quarter Association recommends that the Historic
District Commission grant the application of Reigler Health
Services for a Certificate of Appropriateness for a professional
office building at loth and Rock Streets.
The applicant has been very cooperative and willing to accomodate
neighborhood concerns in devising a plan. The QQA believes that
the applicant's plan, as most recently revised, is compatible
with the neighborhood. Although we were concerned initially
about the mass of such a large, square structure, the applicant's
addition of gables on the north, south and west sides , and
the changes made in the roof style and pitch have provided
sufficient breaks in the facades to make the plan acceptable
overall. Ideally, the QQA would like to -see projections in the
walls on the south and west sides, but this difference of opinion
does not prevent us from endorsing the plan as is.
The QQA applauds Dr. Reigler's decision to remain in the downtown
area and to provide a valuable infill structure as well.
