RE: Pulaski County - Little Rock
Landscaping, Fencing, and Lighting for
Cook Jeep Eagle Parking Lot at 10th and Scott Streets
Demoliton of Structure at 815 S. Rock Street
Dear. Molly:
My staff has reviewed the above referenced projects and has the following recommendations:
Cook Jeep Ease Parking Lot
1. The revised proposal for landscaping, fencing, and lighting the parking lot at 10th
& Scott Streets is sensitive to the historic neighborhood and well planned.
2. The lighting fixtures on 10th Street and Scott Street should match the fixtures
designated for use in the MacArthur Park Historic District in style and placement.
The fixtures in the middle of the lot and on the north side should be more simple
in design and have motion detectors to activate them rather than continuously
burning all night. The number of lights proposed should be reviewed to
determine whether all are needed,
3. The fence on the eastern side of the lot can be chain link but should be vinyl clad
in either black or dark green to visually blend into the landscape.
4. A water spigot should be installed somewhere in the lot to facilitate maintenance
of the landscaping.

e Duffey House 845 S. Rock Street
,Although our office does not promote demolition of historic structures, the advanced state of
deterioration of the above referenced house is such that demolition seems the only recourse. We
suggest the following recommendations:
1. The commission should adopt some type of measures to prevent future demolition
by neglect by property owners within the Historic District.
2. Mrs. Duffey should give any salvageable materials from the house to interested
people for reuse.
3. Once cleared, the lot should be seeded or sodded for lawn.
If you have questions concerning this transmittal, please contact Randy Jeffery of my staff at
324-9880.
Sincerely,
fG
