I've enclosed the handicap ramp plan we've received from Mr. Louis McAllister of the
Southwestern Bell Pioneers for the South side entrance to the Cherry House, 700 South
Rock Street. The house sits on the Southwest corner of 7"' & Rock Streets, facing East.
The ramp would come straight out from the South porch door to the parking lot between
the Cherry House and First Lutheran Church, extending into the lot less than 18 inches
(much less than previously estimated). Our remodeling company will remove a small
section of porch railing and a small section of curbing to accommodate the ramp place-
ment following ADA guidelines. The reconstructed porch railing will be capped and
painted to match the remaining railing.
I haven't been able to find a copy of the house plans; neither the church (owner of house)
nor the remodeling company has one on file. So I've enclosed a very rough hand drawn
footprint of the house, showing placement of the ramp.
We expect the remodeling company to remove the sections of porch railing and curbing
next week. The actual ramp construction is planned for late September or early October.
