I am submitting this letter in conjunction with an Application for a Certificate of
Appropriateness for proposed changes adjacent to 614 Rock Street.
I live at 617 Cumberland Street, and I also own the property adjoining mine that is
located at 614 Rock Street. This property is a vacant lot that has a business,
AnswerFone, to the north and a residence to the south. There is a privacy fence with a
gate that separates the back of my Cumberland property from this Rock Street property,
and I would like to move this fence forward on the Rock Street Property. This would
provide a yard with room for a garden.
The residence behind me, 618 Rock Street, has privacy fencing that extends 54 feet from
mine. I would like to relocate my fence that same distance toward Rock Street,
connecting to the end of my neighbor's fence and to the privacy fence that extends along
the north side of the property. This width would be a distance of 45 feet, and the
neighbors are in agreement with this plan.
The fence will be made of ACQ treated pine. It will be 6 feet tall, the same height as the
two fences to which it will adjoin, with a cap and trim box post. We will also include a
locking gate that will open to the Rock Street property.
I will submit further documentation, including pictures and a drawing of the work to be
performed by the April 16th deadline. Please let me know if you require further
information.

2. Back hails: Three treated back rails per section:
top, middle and bottom.
3. Pickets: Premium quality face board.
4. Fasteners: Galvanized 16-penny nails for back
rails. Galvanized 2" staples for face board.
Installation
.�. 1. Foundation: Posts set 20" to 24" in concrete in
9" diameter hole. Posts set approximately 76"
apart.
2. Finished Grade: Straight appearance on top.
All changes in grade will be rolling and will
flow with the land.
3. Gate Construction: Properly braced. Top and
bottom 20" hinges used. All bolts and nuts no lag screws. 6'x6' posts used on all double -
drive gates instead of 4'x4' posts. We use cedar
2x4's on gate frames to keep the gate lighter
and straighter.
4. Clean-up: All dirt raked into lawn or removed.
No lumber, nails or staples left on job.
Materials
1. Posts: Properly pressure -treated to .40 lbs. per
cubic foot of wood preservative retention. All
treated lumber manufactured in Arkansas is
required by law to have the treater's stamp
affixed to the product. We use 4x4 posts —
never landscape timbers.
