The work was commenced tnd has been prosecuted under th;• lirertion of tho City Engineer and Street Comnlissiouor, and is now, t may be said, virtually. com- lleted. Its cost has been greatly n excess of any sum imagined or l Inticitiated when the improvement was ordered, but the nature of tile work and'As character as needed, and great porrnanent improvement, are evidences that the 1116110y ex- pondcd thereon ba4 been jlllliciouE+- ly as welt as timely expended. Bttmbough, Oct.4tb, cash 75 00 Total .. ........................$1,08(i 11 On the 9th day of Octobor the Board of Health of this city issued an order, malting an appropriation of $5,000 to be drawn froill the I sanitarV,warrapt fund, on the.order of your committee for t ►o purpose of completing said cut -oft, tho; funds in the treasury of the city, reecived' from all sources, having been exhausted, by the payments above mentioned. Of that- sum, of $5,000 your cz)m- mittee has drawn in sanitary war- rants, and ordered paid for material and labor used on the construction of the said cut -off the sum of $4,999.81, leaving in the hands of your committee the sum of 1.9 I cents. A portion of. the warrants 'issued j your committee was onabled to convert into cash, by - personal ap- plication to citizens generous and public spirited enough to ,receive them at their face value. The rest of tile. warrants were paid out at pasta, those holding claims.against the city., on account of labor per- formed on, or material furnished for, the cut -off. tSo. - it thus appears from the above figures that-there has been expended in the construction of the Cqt, in crirreut money and sani- tary warrants, the sum of $0,085.92. As to the.expenditures in connect- ion with the Cut Off, they refer to the ,records in -the City Clerk's office.
