The Arkansas Historic Preservation Program (AHPP) continues to hold the same concerns that were voiced in our letter of November 27, 1985 to Robert Adkinson of the City Planning staff. We regret that an alternative use for the property has not been found since the time of the original hearing on December 5, 1985 but, because an alternative use has not been found we do not feel that it would be useful to further delay this application. If a decision is made to allow demolition of the structure we still recommend that the application to construct a parking lot be denied and the property remain open for future appropriate infill construction. The AHPP would like to take this opportunity to again emphasize the importance of appropriate development on this lot due to its location at the edge of the MacArthur Park Historic District. Thank you for the opportunity to further comment on this application, if you have any questions regarding this letter please contact Bill Hall of my staff at 371-2763. Sincerely, Wilson Stiles State Historic Preservation Officer WS/BH/do Suite 200 • Heritage Center - 225 East Markham • Little Rock, Arkansas 72201 - Phone (501) 371-2763 A Department of Arkansas Heritage
