The Arc Arkansas is proposing to renovate the Eastside Auditorium building at 1400
Cumberland and develop 34 loft style apartments for mixed income multi -family housing
providing both affordable and market rate loft units for individuals as well as families.
This will complete the project started with the original Eastside Junior High School
which has already been renovated as 41 loft apartments.
The Arc Arkansas has made application to the Capitol Zoning District Commission and
the MacArthur Park Historic District Commission get a Certificate of Appropriateness
and to receive a conditional use permit to re -zone the Eastside Auditorium building
located at 1400 Cumberland to multi -family. I have enclosed a Notice of Public Hearing
Scheduled for April 7, 2005 at 5:00 at City Hall.
One of the benefits to the district and neighborhood will be the use of Historic Tax
Credits to restore the building according to the Department's Standards for
Rehabilitation, thus ensuring no alteration to the original facade.
All parking will be provided onsite and will consist of 44 spaces. The parking lot will be
located on the northern portion of the property and will be landscaped to meet
beautification requirements of the City of Little Rock.
Sincerely,
Steven W. Hitt, CEO
The Arc Arkansas
