HomeMy WebLinkAboutHDC2005-019 Letter To Mr. Randy Jefferies And Capitol Zoning Commission From Gloria O. Venable Property Owner 04/27/2005- i L 1409 Cumberland Street Little Rock, AR 72202 April 27, 2005 Mr. Randy Jefferies and Capitol Zoning Commission Ladies and Gentlemen: I am no longer in opposition to the East Side Auditorium being converted to apartments nor to additional units, not to exceed 34, being added to the site. At their initiative, Mr. Steven Hitt and Mrs. Cynthia Stone of the ARC Arkansas met with Mrs. Connie Manning and me to discuss my various objections to the expansion and to the existing apartments. Most points of objection were met with a positive remedy. Mr. Hitt and Mrs. Stone agreed to reduce to writing the various remedies and to submit them to you as a part of their proposed plan to be voted on by your body. A letter, given to me by Mr. Hitt and described as a copy of the letter to be submitted to you, is attached. We have long waited for the refurbishing of the old school auditorium. Given the example of Arc's recent development at the old West Side School where their involvement was from start to finish, and their willingness to address our neighborhood concerns, I believe their plan for East Side is the best development option we can hope for. If indeed the ARC remedies our concerns about the existing apartments, and I believe that is their intent, the Eastside Lofts Phase I and II will be assimilated into our area as good neighbors. While I do not speak for the neighborhood, my opposition was reflective of that of my neighbors. Consequently, I believe that if the plan is altered to include items as outlined in the letter, the neighborhood will no longer object to the project. Si cerely, Gloria O. Venable, Property Owner
