3 A RESOLUTION TO AUTHORIZE THE CITY MANAGER TO APPROVE
4 CONTRACTS AND AGREEMENTS FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF NEW
5 SIDEWALKS IN THE FOREST PARK ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
6 NEIGHBORHOOD UNDER THE ARKANSAS SAFE ROUTES TO SCHOOL
7 GRANT PROGRAM; AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES.

9 WHEREAS, The Arkansas Highway and Transportation Department is offering grants to
10 communities to construct safe routes to schools for pedestrians, and
11 WHEREAS, The Forest Park Parent Teacher Association and Forest Park Elementary School
12 have prepared an application for a grant to construct sidewalks in the neighborhood around the school,
13 and the Public Works Department has agreed to provide design and construction services for the
14 project if a grant is awarded, and
15 WHEREAS, A resolution in support of the project is required as a part of the grant application.
16 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE CITY OF LITTLE
17 ROCK, ARKANSAS:
18 Section 1. The Board supports the project for safe routes to schools at the Forest Park
19 Elementary School.
20 Section 2. City Manager is hereby authorized to approve contracts and agreements pertaining
21 to the grant application and agreement for the construction of new sidewalks under the Arkansas Safe
22 Routes to School grant program.
23 Section 3. This resolution will be in full force and effect from and after the date of its
24 adoption.
