Re: ac unit at East Side Lofts
Dear Mr. Hill,

While we appreciate your desire to move along with this project, the Certificate of Appropriateness at the
Eastside Lofts that was approved on June 2, 2005, did not include any provisions for exterior air
conditioning units. In addition, there are five other items that must be addressed in the amended COA.
They are listed in a memo by me dated August 2, 2006. It is attached as a pdf.
According to our city ordinance and our design guidelines, the air conditioner units and the other five
items must be presented in a public hearing to gain approval for such. Pages 65 - 72, 96 and 97 of the
Design Guidelines will be of parficular interest to you. Any signage on the property will need to be
approved at this time. All conflicts between the Landscape Plan and the mechanical units will need to be
resolved.
The guidelines can be found on-line at:

Our applications can be found on-line at:

I can get you on the October 9, 2006 agenda, but you must file your application before 5:00 pm Thursday
afternoon. The official filing deadline was last Friday, but it can be extended due to the circumstances.
You may obtain a permit for interior demolitions to start the project as approved in the letter dated 8-25-06
written by Colley Burrow.
I have also attached a copy of an email (as a pdf) concerning an application for a COA dated July 25,
2006.
Sincerely,
Brian Minyard
