3 A RESOLUTION TO AUTHORIZE THE CITY MANAGER TO AGREE
4 AND COMPLY TO GRANT TERMS TO ACCEPT SEVENTEEN
5 THOUSAND, FIVE HUNDRED DOLLARS ($17,500.000) IN GRANT
6 FUNDS FROM UNITED STATES TENNIS ASSOCIATION ("USTA")'S
7 SOUTHERN BUILD IT FORWARD PROGRAM, FOR THE CITY'S USE
8 TO RESURFACE REBSAMEN TENNIS CENTER'S SEVENTEEN (17)
9 TENNIS COURTS IN COMPLIANCE WITH THE USTA GRANT
10 REQUIREMENT THAT EIGHT (8) OF THE COURTS BE COMPLETED
11 WITH 60-INCH BLENDED TENNIS PLAYING LINES;AND FOR OTHER
• 12 PURPOSES.

14 WHEREAS, the Tennis Courts at the City's Rebsamen Tennis Center are in need of resurfacing to
15 continue their mission to be one of Arkansas's premier public outdoor tennis centers; and,
16 WHEREAS,the City's Grants division partnered with the City's Parks&Recreation to apply for grant
17 funds to cover the cost of resurfacing Rebsamen Tennis Center's seventeen(17)courts; and,
18 WHEREAS,the City was awarded three(3)USTA grants totaling Sixty-Nine Thousand,Five Hundred
19 Dollars($69,500.00),to be used for tennis court resurfacing of all 17 of the Center's courts,with eight(8)
20 of those seventeen (17)courts required to have 60-inch blended tennis playing lines to be compliant with
21 the grant terms.
22 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE CITY
23 OF LITTLE ROCK,ARKANSAS;
24 Section 1. The City Manager is authorized to accept Seventeen Thousand, Five Hundred Dollars
25 ($17,500.00)in grant funding from United States Tennis Association's Southern Build It Forward Program,
26 and agree to grant terms for the tennis court resurfacing project of 17 courts at Rebsamen Tennis Center,
27 with the grant provision that for the term of five(5)years from the receipt of grant funds that the City will
28 not install additional playing lines for any other sport. IF the City fails to comply with this Grant clause,
29 funding will be voided.
30 Section 2.Funds for this expenditure are available in the USTA Southern Build It Project Account No.
31 270459,Activity No. G45F262,and will be distributed when the project is completed.
32 Section 3. Severability. In the event any title, section, paragraph, item, sentence, clause, phrase, or
33 word of this resolution is declared or adjudged to be invalid or unconstitutional, such declaration or

1 adjudication shall not affect the remaining portions of the resolution which shall remain in full force and
2 effect as if the portion so declared or adjudged invalid or unconstitutional were not originally a part of the
3 resolution.
4 Section 4.Repealer.All laws, ordinances, resolutions, or parts of the same,that are inconsistent with
5 the provisions of this resolution,are hereby repealed to the extent of such inconsistency.
