HomeMy WebLinkAbout16997 1 RESOLUTION NO. 16,997 2 3 A RESOLUTION TO AUTHORIZE THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE 4 THE APPLICATION FOR SEVEN MILLION FIVE HUNDRED 5 THOUSAND DOLLARS ($7,500,000.00) IN FEMA GRANT FUNDS TO 6 COVER THE COST OF CONSTRUCTING AN INCLEMENT WEATHER 7 SAFE ROOM SHELTER AT REBSAMEN TENNIS CENTER; AND FOR 8 OTHER PURPOSES. 9 10 WHEREAS, the City acknowledges that the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) is 11 offering Hazard Mitigation Funds for approved applicants to fund construction of public safety facilities; 12 and, 13 WHEREAS, it is the recommendation of the City's Parks and Recreation Department and the Grants 14 Division of the Finance Department to apply and accept FEMA funds, which will be utilized for the 15 construction of an inclement weather safe room shelter at Rebsamen Park; and, 16 WHEREAS,the acceptance and use of FEMA funds totaling Seven Million, Five Hundred Thousand 17 Dollars($7,500,000.00) would require a City match of 25%of approximately One Million,Eight Hundred 18 Ninety-one Thousand,Two Hundred Fifty Dollars($1,891,250.00). 19 NOW,THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE CITY 20 OF LITTLE ROCK,ARKANSAS; 21 Section 1.The City Manager is hereby authorized to execute any necessary application documents to 22 apply for Seven Million,Five Hundred Thousand Dollars($7,500,000.00)in FEMA funding that if awarded 23 through the grant process,along with the City's 25%match of approximately$1,875,000.0,0 which would 24 come from bond proceeds from the millage funds to pay for the construction of an Inclement Weather Safe 25 Room Shelter at Rebsamen Tennis Center. 26 Section 2. Severability.
