Per your request for professional opinion of status of existing wood siding on the north
side of 1305 Cumberland after removal of vinyl siding.
Ms. Taul,
Due to the City Of Little Rock's request for removal of the vinyl siding, I feel
more damage would be caused to the historical details of the home than by leaving it in
place. The pulling and prying of the vinyl siding and the removal of the nails, without a
doubt, would cause the old wood to split. When the aged wood is split it is destroyed!
After examining the workmanship of the new vinyl siding, it is my professional
opinion that it is much more attractive and more energy efficient than the aged wood.
also feel it has done very little historical damage to the structure.
