HomeMy WebLinkAboutHDC1997-014 Notice To Affected Property Owners 01/06/2000NOTICE TO AFFECTED PROPERIX OWN Please be advised that I submitted an application for a Certificate of Appropriateness ("COA") to the Little Rock Historic District Commission ("Commission") in February 1997. My COA application addressed improvements at my home located at 1001 Cumberland and requested approval for the construction of a two story garage addition, concrete sidewalk, landscaping, and decorative fencing and masonry wall. The Commission approved my COA application as submitted. Although I knew that I was required to request the Commission's approval of any changes or deviations from the approved COA prior to their implementation, I did not do so. Specifically, I changed the composition of the garage exterior from a wooden board and batten to a shiplap siding without seeking the required approval from the Commission. My deviation from the approved COA was brought to the attention of the Commission, and I attended a Commission meeting on November 29, 1999, to address the issue of non-compliance. As a result of the meeting, the Commission requested that I notify you, as an affected property owner, of my non-compliance with Commission procedures in order to provide you with the opportunity to comment on the change from the approved COA. If I had followed the Commission's procedures, you would have had an opportunity to participate in the process of my request for a change in the COA. Although a belated attempt, the purpose of this notice is to provide you with that opportunity now. You may attend the Commission's next meeting on January 6, 2000, in order to directly express your response to my actions of non-compliance. Alternatively, you may contact Anne Guthrie, Historic Preservation Administrator of the City of Little Rock, at 371-5420 if you have any comments concerning this matter_ Ms. Guthrie will relay your comments to the Commission.
