of North and South Frankfort within
the National Historic District.
The area is divided into the Cen-
tral Business zoning district, the
Special Historic zone district-Itnd the

Frankfort from the Capitol north-

Of North Frankfort south of Broad-
way; and a core of buildings north
of Broadway between the Capita!
Plaza tower and the state Transpor-
tation Cabinet tower.
Although the proposed changes
would relax some regulations in the
historic areas, most of those changes
will be undetectable to the eye. Alt-
erations or new buildings which are
out of character for the area still will
not be allowed.
Fast said city planners will still
consult the Architectural Review
Board for significant exterior
changes. Major building additions or
new buildings will also still be con-
sidered by the ARB.
To help with deciding which ex-
terior changes are appropriate, the
city has hired a planner with college
experience in historic architecture to
examine plans. East said.
