TO: Charles Toland, Permits Administrator
FROM: V. Anne Guthrie, Historic Preservation Administrator
DATE: 1 November 2000
SUBJECT: Permit for 922-924 Cumberland
This memo serves as administrative approval from the Little Rock Historic District
Commission (LRHDC) allowing the contractor for 922-924 Cumberland permission to obtain a
permit to perform minor repairs and paint the structure. Since the structure is located within the
MacArthur Park Historic District, exterior work comes under the LRHDC's jurisdiction. Routine
maintenance is allowed within the local ordinance historic district with an administratively
approved Certificate of Appropriateness (COA), and general repair work is classified as routine
maintenance. The repairs should be performed in conformance to the structure:
♦ the proposed work will not alter the existing footprint, outline, profile,
composition or change the configuration
♦ there will be no change to the roof slope and no introduction of new
architectural detailing or materials
♦ the work will duplicate the existing in terms of shape, configuration, details,
profile and materials
As such, and meeting all city, building and health regulations, the application for a permit should
be approved. If exterior changes or improvements are made that require a formal COA, staff will
be notified and appropriate actions taken for a public hearing. Refer to the application
instructions or the Design Review Guidelines: MacArthur Park Historic District for necessity
of obtaining a COA.
