HomeMy WebLinkAboutHDC2016-002 Email To Chairman B.J. Bowen From Brian MinyardMin ard, Brian From: Kathy Wells <katwells@earthlink.net> Sent: Friday, April 08, 2016 3:14 PM To: Minyard, Brian Subject: please reject modern design application for 901 Cumberland Chairman B.J. Bowen Little Rock Historic District Commission via Brian Minyard, city planner Dear Chairman Bowen and Commissioners, Just Say No to the proposed modern design home sought for 901 S. Cumberland, please. The applicant read the guidelines and dismissed them. That is unacceptable. No revisions overcame the essential modern character of this application This design is the wrong design for this Historic District lot. Beside it are historic houses this District is to protect. Fred Poe sited his travel agency in those neighboring homes, and he went to great expense to maintain them in their historic character. Approval of this design on the lot next door would be disrespectful to all Poe did over the years; to the District; to the law that oversees the historic structures in the District, and to all property owners who invested in the District and who rely upon this Commission to uphold the protections for their property. The references to what's across the street or to commercial structures are an attempt to divert attention from the direct issues of a design that makes no effort to blend with neighbors. Pushing to build something on a vacant lot is another distraction and should be ignored. Hold the line, uphold your Guidelines, and reject this application. Yours Truly, Kathy Wells 2121 S. Gaines St. and owner of 1015 S. Scott St.
