HomeMy WebLinkAboutCBC_08 28 2025 a MEETING MINUTES The City Beautiful Commission held a planned meeting at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday August 28, 2025, at Little Rock City Hall, 2nd Floor, Board of Directors’ Chambers, 500 W. Markham St. Chairman Steven Homeyer called the meeting to order. MEMBERS PRESENT: Steven Homeyer Lee Cowan Dax Chance Louise Miller Adam Wierciak Robert Walker Mallory Mounce Bob Winchester Troy Laha Dustin Davis MEMBERS ABSENT: 0 ALSO PRESENT: Simone Blagg, Little Rock City Attorney’s Office Debra Stafford, Little Rock Landscape Specialist APPROVAL OF THE MAY MEETING MINUTES: Motion: A motion was made that the July 24, 2025, minutes be approved. Second: The motion was seconded, and it passed unanimously. VARIANCE REQUEST: None requested. TREASURER’S REPORT: Expense Report: No Report COMMITTEE REPORTS, UPDATES: Public Relations: Commissioner Chance informed the Commission that the CBC Facebook page continues to do well. KLRB: Commissioner Mounce stated that there was no meeting in August for “Keep Little Rock Beautiful”. She will report on the September meeting. Landscape Awards: Commissioner Homeyer reminded the Commission that they will be voting on the Landscape Awards next month on September 25. Eye of the Beholder: Commissioners continue to nominate yards for the Eye of the Beholder Award. T.R.E.E. Fund: The Commission voted on 1708 and 1601 Old Forge Road to grant them trees to plant in the right-of- way. There was motion and a second. The motion passed unanimously. NEW BUSINESS: • Lennie Massanilli introduced the Chairman of the Sustainability Commission, Wes Prewitt. He requested volunteers from the City Beautiful Commission to be in an Ad Hoc Committee to set forth guidelines for Sustainable Landscaping. Chairman Prewitt stated that the Sustainability Commission would take the lead on setting up the meetings and making sure that the public is aware. • Kate Spontak, Pulaski County Arkansas Master Gardener, Central Arkansas Master Naturalist and Tree Replacement Project Leader spoke to the Commission concerning the fact that she is over a grant program that allows residential homeowners to receive free trees. She will be working with the Commission to provide free trees and possibly watering bags/diapers for those trees. • Simon Blagg spoke to the Commission concerning Act 505, which is regulations about Freedom of Information Regulations. • The Commission recognized Troy Laha for his service to the Commission. This will be Commissioner Laha’s last meeting. The Commission presented Commissioner Laha with a plaque and a card. ANNOUNCEMENTS: The next Commission meeting will be September 25, 2025. ADJOURNMENT: Chairman Homeyer entertained a motion to adjourn the meeting. Motion: A motion was made for the meeting to adjourn. Second: The motion was seconded, and it passed unanimously. The meeting was adjourned at 4:51 pm.
