MEMORANDUM
TO: HISTORIC DISTRICT COMMISSIONERS
FROM: ROBERT ATKINSON, URBAN DESIGNER �'
OFFICE OF COMPREHENSIVE PLANNING
SUBJECT: 1002 ROCK STREET
Below are the reasons for issuing a Certificate of
Appropriateness for the construction of a garage at 1002
Commerce:
1. As proposed, this structure will blend harmoniously
with the principal structure on the lot and with
other buildings on the block in terms of scale and
massing.
2. The overall design of the structure and the related
architectural details are in keeping with those of
the principal structure without being strictly
replicative.
3. The siting of the building is in keeping with accepted
practice for the placement of excessory structures
within the District.
I will include the above with any additions or deletions in
Mr. Martinsen's notification of approval. This letter will
not be sent until the additional drawings the Commission
requested have been submitted and approved. Please -respond
to this memorandum within the next couple of weeks if at all
possible.
