Re: The Bien House, !304 Cumberland Landscape Plan
Dear Ladies and Mr. Greer:
Please find attached a landscape plan for 1302 and 1304 Cumberland prepared by Tracy Spillman of
Landscape Architecture, Inc. who has reviewed requirements with the City and incorporated
landscaping which we believe will reinforce the perception of the new structure as a secondary
structure to the Bein House, Some facets of the plan include:
1. The removal of the row of hedges along the previous property line which separated the
two parcels of land. This will allow the two front yards to flow together more as one, lending
to the desired impression of the two lots as one.
2. The lack of a front porch or a direct pathway from Cumberland to the new structure, with
the only walk to the structure as viewed from the street being the walk from the side of the
Bien House to the side of the new structure,
3. A hedge row all across the Cumberland side of the site that mimics the existing one
along the north side of the Bien House along 13th Street.
Please let me know if anyone has questions or comments, and, thanks for your help on this
