Box 3232 Little Rock, Arkansas 72203 Re: Parking Lots for Curran Hall Visitor Center Dear Mr. Travis: Thanks for meeting with us yesterday at the site — it was very helpful to us to visit with you about your need as well as get input from John, Ann and Mark. As we discussed at the meeting, we met yesterday afternoon with Traffic Engineering ("Traffic") about the idea to provide RV/Bus parking along Ferry Street. Traffic did not particularly like the idea of street parking in general and specifically at this location. They pointed out that a bus traveling north on Ferry to the parking space would have a very difficult time getting back on Ferry and turning left. They preferred parking in the lot and made what we believe to be a good suggestion as to how that could be accomplished. Their idea as shown on the attached drawing is to provide a "loop" around the parking lot for RV/Bus travel and parking — the loop is wide enough to allow buses to pass even when others are parked. Car parking is provided using 600 parking and the lot will park 15 cars and 3 to 4 busses/RV's. Let me know if you have any objections to using this type of arrangement. If I haven't heard from you or any other of the other persons receiving copies of this by Wednesday, May 23rd, I will assume this is okay to send for Planning and Historic Commission approval. From the meeting we also understand the following: (1) The building contractor's work largely ends outside the building and our scope of work will include landscaping, sidewalks and fencing around the buildings as well as around the parking lots. The building contractor will provide conduit to parking lot lights; (2) Since there is no "theme" along Sixth Street, a concrete sidewalk is preferred along the front of the parking lot. Similarly, regular light poles are preferred to antique light poles; (3) The irrigation system controller can be installed in the janitor's room in the annex; (4) The fence between the parking lot and the building will be a white picket fence similar to the one shown to be installed along the side of the building; (5) The fence along the west boundary of the Sixth and Ferry parking lot can be a vinyl picket fence; (6) The building contractor should have most of the heavy work completed by the middle of June and be fully complete by July 7, and the building to be opened on August 1; (7) The parking and lots and sidewalks should be completed by August 1. Please let me know if you have any comments on the revised parking lot design or if any of the above is not correct. Thanks for all your help and assistance. Sin ely, Steve Haralson, P.E.
