HomeMy WebLinkAboutHDC1987-002 Letter To James Edmon Strahn From The Cashion Company 05/22/1987(9Z NSURANCFAND BONDS May 22, 1987 James Edmon Strahn 528 E. 6th Little Rock, Arkansas 72202 Dear Mr. Strahn: The Cashion Company has enjoyed almost seven years in our building at 501 Sherman, and during that time we have had the good fortune to prosper and grow. Today, we find ourselves once again outgrowing our offices and needing more space. To that end, we have retained an architect, John Allison of Allison Moses Redden, to help us analyze our options here on East Capitol. With his help, we have come to the conclusion that the only way to efficiently provide for our present and future needs is to construct an addition of approximately 4,000 square feet. The addition would be located to the east of our present building on the lot now occupied by the old apartment house, 609/611 E. Capitol. We have owned that lot for the past few years and acted as landlord to a variety of tenants. The enclosed form is part of the process to gain approval of our plan from the MacArthur Park Historic District Commission, in which we are now located. (Our present building was actually constructed prior to the formation of the District, but the addition must have the District's approval.) We feel that this plan of constructing an entirely new structure, which will be of the same materials and be very compatible with our existing building, will be a great improvement to our neighborhood. As owners of the old house, we assure you that the structure is in deteriorating condition, requiring more and more maintenance and repair just to keep it marginally acceptable. We also can assure you that we as residents on that property will be far more concerned and courteous neighbors than some of the previous dwellers. In short, this will be a very definite improvement in every way.
