Little Rock Historic District Commission — MacArthur Park Local Ordinance District Comments:
1. Page A2.1 New metal panel over entry doors on the north fagade is too wide based on the approved
drawings. Reduce the width. Maximum height is 8'8".
2. Page A2.1 What is the material for the parapet and the new metal panel over the entry doors on the north
fagade? The plans say Galvalume corrugated, but no additional information. The municipal code Sec. 36-342.1 (c) (3)
Building Materials states: Fagade materials may be any standard material, except corrugated or ribbed
materials. Provide cut sheets or other information on what material that will be substituted that is in conformance with
the municipal zoning code.
3. Page A2.1 Graphics will need to be submitted for all signs before fabrication and installation. Graphics will include
dimensions, materials, and finishes.
4. Page A2.1 Flag design will also need to be submitted before fabrication and installation. Graphics will include
dimensions, materials, and finishes.
5. Page E0.2 Provide cut sheets for exterior lighting types M, S, and K. On Type S, the municipal code Sec. 36-342.1 (c)
(1) Lighting states: Any lighting shall be placed so as to reflect away from adjacent residential structures.... Provide proof
that Type S lighting fixtures mounted on the east wall of the building will reflect away from the Whitlow Apartments
located at 500 Rock Street.
6. Page A2.1 The plans submitted show that the existing entry doors on the north fagade will be replaced with an
overhead door. The plans show a storefront system with sliding windows on the top portion only. This is an acceptable
substitution.
7. There are portions of the plans that were submitted via the drawings to the HDC and approved by the HDC that were
not included in this permit review plan set. If they are to be included in this building permit, they must be given to the
Plans Examiner to reroute. It is acceptable if they are not built at this time. Any future plans of implementing those
changes will be required to go through the Commercial Building permit review process.
Please contact Brian Minyard, HDC Staff, 371-4789 if there are any questions.
