Home My WebLink About16891 1 RESOLUTION NO. 16,891 2 3 A RESOLUTION TO AUTHORIZE THE MAYOR AND CITY CLERK TO 4 EXECUTE DOCUMENTS NECESSARY TO ACCEPT A DONATION 5 FROM KATHERINE WEST AND GLENN NISHIMURA IN THE 6 AMOUNT OF ONE HUNDRED THOUSAND DOLLARS($100,000.00)FOR 7 THE PURPOSE OF ADDING A SHADE STRUCTURE TO MACARTHUR 8 DOG PARK; AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES. 9 10 WHEREAS, the MacArthur Park Group has undertaken efforts to plan and support a shade structure 11 project at MacArthur Dog Park, including conducting a public design competition; and, 12 WHEREAS, the winning design, selected by public vote, features a shade structure in the form of a 13 Frisbee replica, and the MacArthur Park Group continues to raise funds to support the project; and, 14 WHEREAS,Katherine West and Glenn Nishimura have generously offered a donation in the amount 15 of One Hundred Thousand Dollars($100,000.00)to support the construction of the shade structure, which 16 is estimated to have a total project cost of approximately Two Hundred Eighty-Five Thousand Dollars 17 ($285,000.00). 18 NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE CITY 19 OF LITTLE ROCK,ARKANSAS: 20 Section 1. The Board of Directors hereby authorizes the Mayor and City Clerk to execute any and all 21 documents necessary to accept with gratitude the donation of One Hundred Thousand Dollars 22 ($100,000.00) from Katherine West and Glenn Nishimura to support the shade structure project at 23 MacArthur Dog Park. 24 Section 2.The City hereby recognizes and expresses its appreciation to the MacArthur Park Group for 25 its leadership, coordination, and fundraising efforts in support of the MacArthur Park Shade Structure 26 project. 27 Section 3.Severability. In the event any title, paragraph, item,sentence,clause,phrase,or word of this 28 resolution is declared or adjudged to be invalid or unconstitutional, such declaration or adjudication shall 29 not affect the remaining portions of the resolution which shall remain in full force and effect as if the portion 30 so declared or adjudged invalid or unconstitutional were not originally a part of the resolution.
